Antonella Barba is a singer who gained celebrity status for her appearance on the show American Idol in the sixth season. Her real fame came due to a scandal involving sexual photos though. Barba was born November 26th, 1986 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. She was raised a strict Catholic and went to the Red Bank Catholic High School. Antonella has one younger brother and two younger sisters. After graduating high school, Antonella Barba went to the Catholic University of America where she studied architecture. She graduated in 2008.

In 2007, Antonella Barba went to New York in order to audtion for the American Idol series. She was accepted for her performace of Free by Deniece Williams. Barba auditioned with her friend Amanda Collucio and both of them were accepted on the show. They both went to Hollywood for and appeared on the contest during the same year. Barba's friend Collucio was cut even before making it to the top 40. However, Barba continued on and made it to the top 24. On March 8th, 2007, she was eliminated from the competition.

Before her elimination, Antonella Barba was part of a large scandal involving photographs of her which surfaced. One of the photos was of Barba in a wet t-shirt and posing sexily in front of the National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. These photos supposedly surfaced without Barba's knowledge and she spoke out against the exploitation. Because of the scandal, Barba received a lot of media attention including an article in USA Today and a segment on The O'Reilly Factor. What really caused a controversy is that Barba was not dismissed from the show because of the scandal even though a past contestant was dismissed because of a leaked topless photo.
